As you approach the transition area you have one of three choices: (1) go out on another lap, (2) pass the timing chip to another rider as they go out onto the course (teams), (3) stop.

If your team has a mechanical out on the course you have a couple of options:  (1) fix your mechanical as quickly as you can and get riding again. You don´t have to be self supportive (meaning) if another rider comes along and they have a tool, tube, knowledge, etc. you need, you may get help from them!  (2) if you have a rider that has a mechanical or has a wreck or anything that hinders them from finishing a lap, they may call in and get another rider out on the course. EITHER WAY THE NEW RIDER ON THE COURSE MUST CHECK IN (BUT DO NOT BRING YOUR BIKE WITH TIMING CHIP NEAR TIMING AREA)!!!  Once your rider calls in and reports to CANCEL the lap it is CANCELLED.

Racers may ride as many laps consecutively as they wish. Each racer must ride a minimum of 1 lap during the 3 or 6 hour period.

THE 3 HOUR RACE FINISHES AT 12:15 P.M. The laps must be completed by 12:15 p.m. or they will NOT count.

THE 6 HOUR RACE FINISHES AT 3:00 p.m. The laps must be completed by 3:00 p.m. or they will NOT count.

The 3 hour race winners will be the ones that have tallied the most laps at the end of the 3 hours!

RACE COURSE:

GPS Data The trails at Fort Yargo State Park are outstanding (this course is one of our favorites)! This might be the fastest and best flowing course we have put together at Yargo! Thanks to the work the Yargo Trail Crew has done with these trails (should see some really fast lap times). This race is very scenic and offers both tight twisty single track, double track trails, some roots, rocks and some sweet elevation change! Garmin 705 measures course at 9.34 miles; Calibrated Bicycle Computer "wheel" measures course at 9.76 miles. Please note GPS Units do not capture every twist and turn in the woods as bicycle wheel does roll every twist and turn.

Each lap will start and finish at the Nature Center going in a Clock Wise Direction! At the mountain bike parking lot / nature center pavillion follow outer loop bypass creek crossing, cross over boys home road, bypass 3 step hill (stay left), stay on outer loop, just past the bottom of the dam bypass monster mile (turn right at monster mile and head up the hill all the way to the gas pipeline / cross over gas pipeline onto outer loop / stay right on outer loop at the other end of monster mile) at the bottom of that section when you reconnect and cross over the gas pipeline staying on the outer loop until you reach the "steel bridge". After the steel bridge stay straight over the top of the hill (deadwood hill) by the chicken houses (again just to take a little distance off) onto the outer loop. Continue on outer loop past the primitive camping area and up over crossing entrance "B" road back to picnic shelter number 5 (after the entrance "B" road it's .75 of fast, flat or downhill to picnic shelter number 5). Follow the Outer Loop past picnic shelter number 5 and up through graveyard hill... just past graveyard hill stay right (crossing the road) and head over and next to the mini putt putt section of the course. Cross over the asphalt road and reconnect to the outer loop. Follow this all the way back to the Nature Center Pavillion.

Course is dialed in right at 9.76 miles. Intentions are to get lap times about 40-50 mins or so. The idea behind the layout of this course is to hopefully get the individual and team times inside an hour (hopefully putting some strategy together for some of those teams to get that 3rd lap in the 3 hour race! Likewise in the 6 hour race try to get that 6th lap and provide some opportunities to potentially getting a 7th lap if possible)!

Giant thanks to the Yargo Trail Crew for the time and energy they have put into maintaining these trails! If you haven't ridden there ⁄ you´re gonna love it! If you have ridden there you know what we mean! A portion of your race day proceeds will be donated back to the Yargo Trail Crew!

AWARDS

Awards will be given out when we have enough finishers in to fill the categories. Medals (3 Hour Categories) along with Medals (6 Hour Categories)!
