We´re excited to present the 13th Annual Red Top Roaster Trail Race at Red Top Mountain State Park. Race will start ⁄ finish in the parking lot of the Lodge at Red Top Mountain State Park. 

Runners the Red Top Roaster is OPEN! Please Note: We will have a cap on this race of 325 Participants! We are placing a cap on this event for 2 reasons... 1 parking availability, 2 getting that amount of runners into the woods.

Please note parking is at a premium (if you are in a position to carpool that would be wonderful)! Georgia State Parks requires a $5.00 Parking Fee Per Car (or you can buy a yearly pass)!

For our 2025 events we will be using a Super Soft, Tri Blend Shirt! In doing so we must adhere to the "no guarantee of a shirt with late or race day registration". We will still offer "Men's" and "Women's" Sizes (Shirts Fit Just Like the Current Ones we Use)! So Register Early and let us know what you think!

PACKET PICKUP

Packet pickup will be the morning of the race starting at 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Race starts at 8:00 a.m. SHARP!

RACE COURSE

 

The race will start behind the Red Top Mountain State Park Lodge Parking Lot in the open field (required for spacing) and will soon lead into the woods. The terrain is made up of a little bit of everything, rolling hills, double track, minimal roots and rocks (running surface is very forgiving). The race will utilize the Sweet Gum Trail, Homestead Trail, Campground Trail, Iron Hill Trail and Visitor Center Loop Trail. The course is beautiful and offers something for every runner truly wishing to ´ditch the city´. This course sets up well for anyone interested in trail running but has never experienced one.
 
3.1 Mile (2 Water Stations On Course: .65, 1.85 Miles). From the Park Office / Old Lodge (race will start behind the Red Top Mountain State Park Lodge in the open field) we will run across the open field and tap onto the lakeside trail then through the parking lot to the kiosk at parking lot entrance (spacing before we tap into the trails) follow Sweet Gum Trail (red) to Homestead Trail (yellow) 5K turns left across road... cross road and continue on Sweet Gum Homestead Trail take R onto Homestead Trail (yellow) to the Visitor Center. Go through the parking lot, past the tennis courts to Visitor Center Loop (green) go to Sweet Gum Trail (red) and turn R to Sweet Gum Homestead Trail. Turn R on Sweet Gum Trail (red) to kiosk (parking lot of Park Office) run across parking lot to the Park Office (Finish).
8.85 Mile (5 Water Stations On Course: .65, 1.85, 3.30, 6.45, 7.65 Miles)
 
From the Park Office / Old Lodge (race will start behind the Red Top Mountain State Park Lodge in the open field) we will run across the open field and tap onto the lakeside trail then through the parking lot to the kiosk at parking lot entrance (spacing before we tap into the trails) follow Sweet Gum Trail (red) to Homestead Trail (yellow) 5K and 8.85 Milers BOTH Turn Left... cross road and continue on Sweet Gum Homestead Trail take R onto Homestead Trail (yellow) to the Visitor Center. Go through the parking lot, past the tennis courts to Visitor Center Loop (green) go to Sweet Gum Trail (red) and turn R to Sweet Gum Homestead Trail. Turn R on Sweet Gum Trail (red) to kiosk (parking lot of Park Office) run across parking lot to the Park Office (5K Finishes to the Right)... 8.85 Milers will continue straight through the parking lot to the kiosk at parking lot entrance follow Sweet Gum Trail (red) to Homestead Trail (yellow) 8.85 turns right... after turning R on to Homestead Trail (yellow) take the next L (around loop) after doing loop turn left (uphill) and then cross street (after crossing the street)... continue on Sweet Gum Homestead Trail take R onto Homestead Trail (yellow) to the Visitor Center. Go through the parking lot, past the tennis courts to Visitor Center Loop (green) go to Sweet Gum Trail (red) and turn R to Sweet Gum Homestead Trail. Turn R on Sweet Gum Trail (red) to kiosk (parking lot of Park Office following the orange cones on race day across the parking lot) back to Park Office parking lot. Go across parking lot turn hard right to front of Park Office (Finish).


Dirty Spokes will be handing out medals and prizes to our overall top 3 male and female finishers for each race. We will also be handing out medals to our top 3 male and female finishers in each age group (14 & Under, 15–19, 20–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70-74, 75 & Over) – you must be present to receive your medal, we will not mail them to you.

AWARDS

Awards will be given out when we have enough finishers in to fill the categories. Medals will be given out to the top three finishers in each category. Walkers are encouraged to participate; however, you should be able to complete the 8.85 ⁄ 3.1 miles at a 16 minute mile pace or under to receive an official time.
